Praying God's Word

PRAYING GOD'S WORD
Hebrews 4:12 says that God's Word is “alive and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword”. When we speak and pray the scriptures, we are coming into agreement with God, and His power is then released to answer our prayers.
Why pray the Scriptures?
Here are just a few reasons:
1. Jesus is our model. Jesus worked with the scriptures. With the Word of God he countered temptation, answered His critics, and fulfilled His purpose.
2. Praying the scriptures translates to talking to God in His own language.
3. God’s Word gives the Spirit His two-edged weapon. Ephesians 6:17 says, “Take the sword of the Spirit, the word of God.” Fill your prayers with the powerful weapon of God’s Word. No soldier dares report to duty without his or her weapons. His life depends on being well prepared; so does yours. It is important to bring the power of the Word of God into your praise and prayer.
4. God binds Himself to His promises, so learn to plead the promises of God when you pray. D.L. Moody said, “Tarry at a promise and God will meet you there.” Numbers 23:19 tells us, “Has God said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Every promise is like a cheque, which is nothing more than a piece of paper until it is cashed at the bank. Praying the Word of God “cashes” His promises.
5. Praying the Word of God builds faith. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
6. Praying the scriptures assures that you are praying the mind and will of God. Charles Spurgeon said that our prayers are according to the mind of God when they are according to the Word of God.
7. Praying God’s Word seals the answer. Promises predict the answers. They point to what to expect. Isaiah 55:11 says that “God’s word never returns to Him void without accomplishing what He desires.”
8. Praying God’s Word brings God’s power into praying. In the Amplified Bible, Luke 1:37 says, “For with God nothing is ever impossible, and no Word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfilment.” Mary clearly understood it this way. In the next verse she replied, “May it be to me as you have said.”
9. Praying the Scriptures orchestrates prayer agreement for multiplied power. Deuteronomy 32:30 refers to one man chasing a thousand, or two putting ten thousand to flight.
